INGREDIENTS

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 1/2 cups chopped onions

1 1/2 cups chopped celery

4 cups water

8 potatoes, peeled and cubed

15 slices American cheese - broken into pieces

4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 1/3 cups milk

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

DIRECTIONS

Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Saute the onions and celery in the butter for 5 to 10 minutes, or until tender.

Stir in the water and potatoes, bring to a boil and then simmer until the potatoes are tender. Add the cheese and stir until melted.

In a separate small bowl, combine the flour and the milk and stir well until the flour is mostly dissolved. Pour this into the soup slowly, stirring constantly, until soup has thickened, about 5 minutes. Garnish with the parsley.

I make potato soup by getting the instant flakes,

using more milk than they call for so its the right consistancy,

add garlic, sourcream, bacon or ham

I then take biscuits ( the instant kind) cover the outside of a bowl or cup with tinfoil, shape the biscuit over the tinfoil ( to make a bowl)

bake it on the tinfoil,

spray oil on the inside of the bread bowl, ( so the soup doesn't absorb in)

pour soup in, then add grated cheese to the top,

cheese is last, you don't want it evenly melted in your soup,

the flavor is better than if you melt it in while its cooking.Does anyone have a recipe for cheesy potato soup?
no but wow that sounds soooo yummy right now
Make a regular potato soup and add cheese. That is all there is to it.
yep.
Firstly, if you know how to cook potato soup, just add cheese.
fresh cream, garlic, skinned red potatoes, parsley, a dash of white wine, bacon, and blue cheese..... salt and pepper to taste.. with crusty grilled cheese rolls on the side...
peel 4 potato's dice one half onion add 3 stalks of diced celery in 2 quarts of water add 3 chicken bouillon cubes or one can of chicken broth cook on medium to medium low burner add 1 cup of milk or one half cup of cream and 2 tablespoons of butter when celery and potato's are tender celery salt and pepper to taste while serving top with grated Cheddar cheese
For a quick, easy recipe----use canned cream of Potato soup and add fried bacon bits and cheese slices or shredded cheese.
